Adam and I spent some time together pairing on Twitch to implement the first part of the Firestorm UI. It was a jolly good time and we got a decent start on it. Things we used:
I really liked using rscss for the first time to break up my components. In general, our gut feeling is that we aren't likely to use mdl ultimately - it seems too easy to implement most of this ourselves and mdl is a bit wordy. Having said that, we aren't convinced one way or the other yet.
That brings up a good point - check out the Firestorm mockups. I've just started publishing the new free Elixir getting started content, but I don't plan to be particularly public about it for another week or so because there are a few website-related things to tie up still. I'll send out an email soon to see if / how each subscriber would like to be referenced in the PATRONS file for Firestorm - it wouldn't be happening without your support after all. Work on Firestorm in full should begin in around a week - I have another week of free content to create around OTP, and then we'll start on the data model in the free content for Ecto, and the basics of the site in the free content for Phoenix.
Thanks. See you soon!
